Purebred Breeders supports Pets with Disabilities
October 13, 2011
After bringing together hundreds of families and healthy, happy puppies, Purebred Breeders pledged to support the cause of Pets with Disabilities - an organization that promotes the adoption of physically disabled animals. One of the many initiatives of the Purebred Breeders Donation Program, the drive supports the cause of special furry friends while promoting responsible dog ownership.
Joyce Darrell and her husband Michael Dickerson founded Pets with Disabilities in 2000. When asked what motivated her to start the organization, Joyce said, “It all started with a dog called Duke – our German Shepherd mix who broke his back while playing. We made a commitment when we brought him home; through sickness and health, until death do us part he was to remain a part of our family.”
The organization serves as a rescue and as an adoption placement aid for animals that have been injured by accident or disabled by illness. “We would like to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude for the support extended by Purebred Breeders. Acts like these give us an opportunity to provide a safe haven and hope to hundreds of pets with disabilities”, said Joyce Darrell.
Purebred Breeders Donation Program’s spokesperson, Mark Reynolds said “Our program constantly seeks to promote and support causes that help in bettering the lives of man’s best friend. We have always encouraged and recognized responsible pet ownership. It is easy to fall in love with a puppy face, but it is the commitment that Pets with Disabilities epitomizes, that drew us to this cause.”
