Welcome

The Yorkshire terrier, popularly called the Yorkie, has always been in high demand in American homes, and in some cases it has been over-bred in an effort to produce so-called ‘tea-cup' and ‘handbag' lapdog variants. Dog owners wishing to buy or adopt the Yorkie therefore are often faced with the problem of finding reliable Yorkie breeders in Illinois that they can trust to give them genuine purebred Yorkies, either standard or the smaller, ‘toy' type. This is where we come in, with our Illinois Yorkie puppies for sale. We give you access to hundreds of breeders and dog lovers enrolled in our extensive countrywide network that are dedicated to breeding strong and disease-resistant Yorkie puppies in an effort to preserve the breed in its original form.

We try to place puppies in homes in Illinois and the US where we feel they will find love, and a good life. All these puppies come from breeders in our exclusive network, currently the best in the USA. We offer shipping in case the puppies have been bred outside Illinois.

Do You Really Want to Own a Yorkie Puppy?

We use the' toy' designation with reservations here, because the Yorkie, whatever its size is a spunky little dog with an independent disposition that will not hesitate to chase dogs ten times its size. With proper training Yorkies make great companions and watchdogs that adapt well to apartment life. But because of its size, dog owners often make the mistake of thinking that their Yorkie pooch has lesser needs than bigger dogs. If you are planning to own a Yorkie you should therefore not imagine that you will have an easier time because this is a small dog breed. Instead you should focus on whether your lifestyle leaves you enough time and resources to give your pooch a good life. Illinois Yorkie breeders have more information on the breed, so you can give them a call and ask your questions directaly to them.

Is the Yorkie the Dog for you or your household?

The two important Yorkie types are the standard and toy types and depending on what kind of dog you want, companion, lapdog, or travel dog their personalities can vary greatly. To begin with Yorkies are not your typical lapdog – i.e. very biddable and possessing a soft temperament. Yorkies are amusing and very intelligent, but they can also be complicated and challenging, and terribly independent. With proper training they can get along fine with little kids, but they will adapt better to older children and a calmer lifestyle, especially the toy type. All Yorkies are easily trained but they have a high hunting instinct and will ignore the training if that suits their purpose – to chase after prey, for example.

What A Yorkie Needs To Be Happy and Healthy

Yorkies adapt well to apartment life and their exercise needs are moderate. They get nearly enough exercise playing indoors, but daily walks outdoors help to satisfy their mental stimulation and are highly recommended to satisfy their instinctive sense of adventure. But like all other dogs you will need in addition to give them food, water, shelter, healthcare, socialization, etc for them to have a good environment in which to grow. Yorkies prefer warm conditions and cannot tolerate extreme cold, for example. Training is another critical factor. Just because Yorkies are small and easily portable does not mean they need less training; in some cases they may need even more.

Yorkie Puppies – A Lifelong Partnership

All Yorkies can be affectionate with their families and they make great companion dogs for anyone, and for the sick, the elderly or others that are housebound for some reason. But they require a bit more commitment from their owners, and you need for instance, to take the time to find out how to treat small dogs and how to housebreak your pooch, because Yorkies are more difficult to housebreak than bigger dogs. For the long term you need to be prepared to deal with a dog that is sometimes obstinate and opinionated, albeit affectionate and loyal, and one that requires you to be patient and disciplined.

We require all our puppies to undergo an extensive health check before they come home to you.
